You just got a phone call from your mother to inform you that she’s “popping by for a quick minute” to drop of something for your kids. You are in a sudden state of panic because your house looks trashed. I’m giving you chores to do in 10 minutes so that your house can look clean.
The goal is to not have a perfect house, you do live here and you have kids and possibly animals. Your house doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to not look cluttered.
I am the queen of faking a clean house. I can hide my clutter away almost as fast as my kid can make a mess. Thanks to great storage furniture faking a clean home is easier than ever.
Not being a natural born cleaner I needed to train myself with good habits to make it so the only mess in my house is my kids mess. I created a cleaning schedule that made it possible to quickly clean up my home and keep it clean.
In creating my own cleaning schedule that is catered to my daily schedule, priorities, and even the lay out of my home I realized not everyone works like I do. So I created a version of my cleaning schedule that allows you to cater to your own priorities, schedule, and home layout.
Of course to make any cleaning schedule work for you and your home you need to have good habits in place to make cleaning easier.

Mastering The Quick Clean With These Habits
Creating good cleaning habits in yourself and your family is key to mastering the quick clean. If you often feel overwhelmed by the amount of cleaning that needs to be done, these habits help to minimize that.
Put Dirty Dishes In The Dishwasher Immediately
Running your dishwasher every night after dinner and unloading it every morning means you can load dirty dishes into the dishwasher all day long.
Make it a habit to keep dirty dishes off your counters and out of your sink in order to keep your kitchen clean. Letting dishes sit on countertops and in your sink not only makes your kitchen look dirty but it can make your house smell too.

Put Dirty Clothing In The Hamper
Keep hampers in each bedroom and each bathroom with a shower. This will help to minimize dirty clothes ending up all over the house and make laundry easier to do each week.
The bathrooms will look less cluttered and your bedroom will need less daily cleaning too. On laundry day just gather all of your hampers, separate the clothing, and do your laundry.
Put the clean laundry in the hampers based on which room they belong in. From there the family member that owns the clothing can put their own clothing away.
Wipe Down Counters After Use and Keep Them Clean
When you are done cooking something, preparing food, or brushing your teeth wipe down your countertops. It takes just a few seconds to wipe up crumbs and clean up a mess.
The second part of counter use is using your counters as a catch all for all of your junk mail and paperwork. Get into the habit of going through your mail immediately and filing it where it needs to go.
Small things like this keep your kitchen and bathroom counters clear of clutter making your house look cleaner.
Put Things Away When You Are Done With Them
The final habit that you and your family need to focus on building is the put things away when you are done with them habit. This goes a long way to keeping your home cleaner.
Homes are rarely an actual mess. Most of the time what makes a home look messy is clutter. When things get put away after use it makes it easier to do a quick clean up in less time.
