Traditional Irish recipes are the best in comfort food. It’s the type of food that sticks to your bones and just makes your tastebuds and belly happy. I especially love the beef stews and potato cakes.

However, I am not Irish so I had to find the best recipes for some of my favorite Traditional Irish recipes to enjoy at home. I have recipes for main meals, side dishes, and even desserts below and they are all tested and delicious.

Traditional Irish Recipes

Below are 10 of my favorite Irish recipes and I think you are likely to enjoy them too.

Farmhouse Beef Stew

This beef stew is fantastic for colder winter months or colder rainy days in Spring or Autumn. It’s a filling recipe that is fairly easy to make. It’s also going to leave you with leftovers for some delicious lunches later in the week.

Irish Braised Corn Beef Brisket

Corn Beef and Cabbage is one of my favorite meals to have around St. Patrick’s Day. It’s a delicious and filling meal that will please a family and give you leftovers. I like using any left over corn beef in grilled sandwiches and reubens later in the week.

Irish Dublin Coddle

Coddle is a dish that typically uses leftovers so it doesn’t always have a specific recipe, and you could plan out your menu this way. However, sometimes it’s just great to make some coddle and eat it at any time of day.

Guinness Beef Stew

Another filling and delicious stew. I typically go for the Farmhouse stew above but if I happen to have Guinness and Red Wine this stew is one of the best tasting I’ve had.

Irish Soda Bread

Irish Soda Bread is probably one of the more popular recipes to be made around St. Patrick’s Day. While I personally do not use raisins when I make Irish Soda Bread.

Irish Colcannon

Potatoes and cabbage make a fantastic side dish for any meat recipe. I particularly like to make this recipe with a sausage of some kind though I’ve also done it with a beef roast or pork roast too.

Cottage Pie

Cottage Pie is such a comfort food recipe for me and my family. It’s an easy to make recipe that is filling and tastes delicious. Cottage pie is also great to premake, freeze, and then defrost and pop right in the oven for a make ahead meal.

Irish Boxty

Boxty is like a Potato Pancake and this recipe uses leftover mashed potatoes. It’s a fantastic recipe that tastes delicious and is good for any time of the day.

Irish Potato Farls

I love making these for breakfast. It’s easy to make and a great potato side dish for most breakfasts. I personally like serving it with eggs and sausage.

Cast Iron Irish Apple Cake

Finally we have a traditional Irish Apple Cake. This is a fantastic dessert that’s easy to whip up and tastes amazing.

Irish Recipes

I don’t often celebrate St. Patrick’s Day so these recipes are fantastic for any time of the year. They are filling and great when you’re craving comfort food. I believe most of these recipes are traditional but as with anything there may be slight variations between families.
