When people talk about self care they often think of spa weekends, vacations, or expensive beauty products. The truth is self care does not need to be expensive at all. I’m the queen of self care on the cheap so I am featuring several cheap self care products you need to have.

I used to be someone who didn’t really partake in self care because I didn’t have the money to do it. I suffered through, had low self esteem, dealt with anxiety and depression, and dreamed of spa retreats.

I still dream about spa retreats but my self esteem is higher, my anxiety and depression don’t hit as bad, and I’m no longer feeling like I am suffering.

This is because I found ways to address self care in my life without spending loads of money. I found low cost products and activities that make a world of difference in my everyday life.

Yes I focus on self care every single day and you should too. That’s why you need these low cost self care products.

Self Care Doesn’t Need To Be Time Consuming

The truth is I have a nasty habit of not cutting off my work day. I wake up get my coffee and immediately start writing, then I work on marketing, then by the afternoon I am focused on new ideas and new products.

In the evening I am focused on education, finishing up marketing tasks, and creating new products and freebies. Side note – make sure you check out my FREE resource library by going here.

In between all of this I am a mom and homemaker first and foremost. I’m cleaning, cooking, playing with my son, and spending time working with his speech delay.

So with all of this going on you would think I wouldn’t have time to enjoy some self care, right? Wrong. I do enjoy self care every single day because I made it a priority in my life.

As we go through all of the products below you will see exactly how I use each of them for self care.

Self Care Products

Self care is more than just indulging in a face mask or getting your nails done. Self care is about taking care of your whole self. It’s whole body health.

The products we go through today are not just beauty products but products that help you take care of your physical and mental health too.

Kindle Unlimited

Reading is such a huge part of my own personal self care regimen. Every night before bed I take time to relax and read. Kindle Unlimited gives me access to hundreds of thousands of books for a low monthly fee.

You can use Kindle Unlimited on your cell phone or on a tablet. I personally love my Fire Tablet though because I can completely ignore any phone notifications and focus solely on reading.

Be it self help, escaping into a favorite series, or discovering a new series Kindle Unlimited is a must have for readers.

Cratejoy Subscription Boxes

I am in absolute love with CrateJoy. Cratejoy is a subscription box service that connects you with loads of different types of boxes. Everything from Fashion, to books, to geek, and even your pets can get in on it.

The self care subscription boxes like Therabox gives you a monthly box of carefully curated beauty and relaxation products. This is a great automatic monthly reminder to spend some time taking care of yourself.

Elf Beauty

Elf Cosmetics has some great beauty products and the best part is they are super cheap. I personally love the nourishing night cream and can’t get enough of it.

Their nourishing face oil leaves my skin soft and not greasy. The soothing mask and the brightening mask sheets are super affordable and fantastic for your skin.

Finally, before I even get to make up I love using primers. I love and depending on the day use both the Poreless Face Primer and the Mineral Infused Face Primer. I also use the Oil Control Primer Mist and my makeup stays put all day and all night. No touch ups needed.

Aromatherapy

I personally love using aromatherapy to help motivate and calm myself down. The most popular way to use aromatherapy in your home is through a diffuser and essential oils like this one.

While this is a great starter kit I find that the diffusers often cause an overpowering scent in the home. This all boils down to personal preference in scents.

Instead I actually use lotions from Bath and Body Works for my aromatherapy. My two favorites are the Sleep collection with Lavender and Vanilla and the Stress Relief collection with Eucalyptus and Spearmint.

Hair Mask

While I do heavily focus on self care not just being about beauty nothing quite compares to having soft skin and soft hair. The Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask is the best hair mask I’ve used.

Let me put it to you this way. I recently bleached my hair several times from a natural dark brown to a blonde so I could do fun colors in my hair. While I loved the colors my hair did not feel soft or look healthy at all.

One treatment with this hair mask after dying my hair back to dark brown and my hair looks and feels soft and healthy again. It is a must have for those of us who like to experiment with our hair or just need our hair to be a bit more healthy.

Multivitamin

No matter how healthy you eat or what types of food you eat you are probably not getting the nutrients your body needs. I highly recommend that you start taking a multivitamin.

Here’s the thing though. I am not going to recommend just any multivitamin to you. This is something that you should absolutely speak with your doctor about and see what they recommend.

I personally just use a Nature’s Made brand multivitamin however, I know they are not available everywhere. So do your research, check with your doctor, and find a multivitamin that works for you.

Journal

Take some time to start journaling every single day. Journaling is great for your mental health. It helps you to stay on track, reach your goals, learn from mistakes, and find closure on difficult events in your life.

Journaling helps you to navigate your feelings and thoughts without fear of anyone else putting in their two cents. This is an important and crucial part of self care and addresses things that too often get pushed to the side when they shouldn’t.

Get A Planner

The Erin Condren Life Planner is a fantastic tool to get your life and schedule on track and working with each other. I personally love the layout of the Erin Condren planners.

Of course as always I’m going to be honest. I use a bullet journal for my planning, journaling, and tracking. I like the ability to get creative as well as create personal to my life spreads. I need that type of customization in my life.

Water Bottle

Most of us have a hard time drinking our daily recommended amount of water. Personally I think it’s a lack of sustainable convenience. Sure you can grab bottles of water at the grocery store or gas station but that can get expensive.

So get yourself these reusable glass water bottles and say goodbye to toxin leak, single use plastics, and save some money. Simply fill them and pop them in your fridge for easy sustainable access to cold water.

The number one cause of headaches and small health problems is a lack of proper hydration. Get those water intake numbers up and stay healthy.

Bathtub Caddy

There is a rule in our house. This rule is one I think most moms need to set in their own homes. The rule is very simple. Unless the house is on fire or a tornado is about to run us over I am not to be disturbed when I am taking a bath.

Bath time for me is a luxury I don’t get to do often, my life is pretty much quick showers and go. So when I do get to sit in a relaxing salt or bubble filled bathtub the last thing I want is to be bothered.

Of course any proper relaxing bath time needs a bath caddy. This keeps your tablet or book safe from water and provides a flat spot to put your glass of wine. I personally really like this bath caddy.

Tea

When you just can’t stand to drink one more bottle of water but you are trying to stay away unnecessary sugary drinks – hot tea is the next best choice. I personally love sipping on Yogi Teas and they come in a variety of different options.

On nights where I just need to relax a little bit before bed I grab the Honey Lavender Stress Relief tea. If I need a little stronger tea to relieve my stress I grab the Kava Stress Relief Tea. And if I’m just dragging my feet throughout the day and need a pick me up, it’s the Vanilla Spice Perfect Energy.

If you’re new to Yogi teas I highly recommend checking out all their flavor and support options. Their teas are fantastic and even offer a bit of encouraging advice on tea tag.

Cheap Self Care Items

Self care does not need to be expensive. Most of the items I featured in this list are extremely affordable or will save you money in the long run.

Getting a reusable water bottle will help to keep you hydrated and will save you money on purchasing individual use bottles. Even beauty products for a spa day can be inexpensive.
