There have been plenty of occasions in which I’ve had a sweet tooth that needed curing with nothing in the house. This is where in a mug sweets come in. They take no time to make, don’t require an oven, and can cure a sweet tooth quickly.
When these cravings hit I rarely want to spend the time waiting. What I want is a single serving, quick, and easy sweet to curb that craving fast.
That’s when I found out about sweets cooked in a mug and started finding different options to start trying and single serving craving stoppers.
Are They Any Good?
I’ll be flat out honest, these are not gourmet desserts. They do the job of curing a sweet tooth but there is a chewy quality to any of these single serve recipes. It’s mainly because they are microwaved quickly instead of baked slowly.
They are still tasty, still do the job, and are a lot easier than baking a whole big cake or tray of cookies. If you are expecting gourmet style desserts, you should lower your expectations just a little.
These are still extremely delicious and perfect for just a quick sweet snack.
Tips On Microwave Sweets
Since every microwave’s power is just slightly different you may want to test out the times until you figure out the correct time for your microwave and favorite recipe.
Additionally, you want to make sure that you mix the ingredients together really well. All the dry elements should be completely blended with the wet to make sure your recipe comes out the best it can.
Using a small silicone spatula to mix the ingredients allows you to push the ingredients against the sides of the mug and then smush it all back down to the bottom with minimal sticking to the spatula.
Finally, mug size does matter with these types of recipes. You may need to adjust your time based on the mug you are using to make your recipe.
