In this Forget Me Not Bombshell book review I’m sharing my thoughts on a one off book in the Mafia Wars series by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. As usual I will try to keep spoilers to a minimum however, there may still be a few small spoilers in this review

“‘Why are raging motherfuckers so hot?’ ‘Because nice guys will judge you if you ask them to choke you, a bad guy does it for free.’”

Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti, Forget Me Not Bombshell

Forget Me Not Bombshell is a Mafia style contemporary romance. I’ve read Caroline and Susanne before with Zodiac Academy so I thought I would give this a try when it came up in my Kindle Unlimited suggestions.

Special Trigger Note: While I don’t consider this book to be smut there is a reverse harem trope and because it’s mafia style there is a bit of gore.

Synopsis and Author

In order to bring peace to the families they each decided a daughter would marry into another family. Too bad Anya has zero plans of letting her husband live. Danny is a vicious and depraved man; she will kill him and find her escape, or die trying.

Benny was framed by his twin Danny and has spent the last 8 years serving for a crime he didn’t commit. It’s a good thing his release day is the same day his brother plans on marrying the woman that was meant to be his.

Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti bring us into the world of London and The Butchers who run these streets. This is Caroline and Susanne’s world, but we all live in it because once again we are grabbed a hold of and they do not let us go until the very end.

Forget-Me-Not Bombshell Reading Experience

Forget Me Not Bombshell takes place in London, England following Anya, Benny, Church, Frank, and Danny through plots, plans, action, mystery, spice, and suspense.  We are sucked into a Mafia world with The Butchers after 8 years of mismanagement that will likely leave them broke if not fixed.

Susanne and Caroline have this tendency to bring us into a story and not let up, this book was thankfully different. We have a couple of plots that are figured out throughout the entire book but the pacing while steady has some lulls that allow for breaks for work and sleep.

Writing Style

This is a chunky book and we know how I like big books. At 689 Pages and 70 Chapters this book took me about two days to get through, or 15 hours. It was easy to read, great descriptions, and as usual Susanne and Caroline just tug you right into the story.

They created some amazing complex characters, each with a past, but each with a personality that makes you fall for them. They really brought these characters to life and have you screaming threats of revolt if anything happens to your favorites.

While I was able to pace myself with this book, I was still itching to finish it because it was that good.

Forget Me Not Bombshell Book Review

Our main female character is Anya. Right off the bat I loved her for her take no shit attitude and her love for music. However, it was her ability to fall into violence as needed that really made me fall for her. She’s not afraid of getting blood on her hands in protection of herself or those she loves.

Our three leading men are Benny, Frank, and Church. Each one of them became favorites pretty quickly into the story. However, there has never been a character that wins my heart quite as fast as Church did. Benny and Frank won me shortly after but Church has my whole heart.

I would love nothing more than to sit down with Dylan and drink some tea. While in real life I probably wouldn’t because let’s face it, no one would ever find me. However, Dylan still owns me.

I have strong feelings about Danny. I want to take mercy on the fact that he is severely mentally unstable and understand that it is how his brain has always worked and not really his fault. So while I hate him, I also pity him because it’s obvious that there is nothing that can help him that we know of at this point in time.

The Czar and The Candle Maker are both creeps. Just hands down, hate them both.

This book has so many great plot points and tropes and it worked so well. I was very happy with the story that was told here and shocked that we even got a happy ending from it. Susanne and Caroline do not often give us happy endings.

This is a reverse harem with sexually explicit scenes and violence with gore. So be aware if you wish to attempt to read this book.

The only thing that upset me greatly about this book is that I now want to read every other book in the Mafia Romance series. Speaking of, the Mafia Romance series is a series where several authors have written books based around different crime families and a peace treaty that was put in place between them. It’s an interesting concept and I do look forward to reading more from this series.

If you like the Monsters and Muses series by Sav R. Miller or anything else that was written by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti you will likely enjoy this book as well.

Star Rating

Before I rate this book I want to give you a bit of background about what my rankings mean. I typically read books that I check out through the Libby app with my local library or through Kindle Unlimited.

I rarely buy ebooks unless they are cheaply priced or on sale. I also very rarely buy physical copies of books. I’m a bit of a minimalist so I have to absolutely adore a book to buy a physical copy that will be proudly displayed in my home.

So my ranking system is as follows:

  • 5 Stars equals I am buying a physical copy of this book. I will read this book at least 10 more times, it is the best ever.
  • 4 stars equals a great book. I might buy an ebook version when it’s on sale so that I can re-read it at least one more time.
  • 3 stars equals a good book. I likely won’t read again but I appreciate the story.
  • 2 stars equals “Meh.” I will not read this book again, it had a lot of problems and I did not care for it.
  • 1 star equals a bad book. I barely finished this book and I will never recommend anyone waste valuable book reading time on this book.
  • 0 stars is a did not finish book. I will never finish that book and it is banished.

Forget Me Not Bombshell gets 5 stars from me. I really loved the characters and the dynamic between these characters in this book. The story was good, it was a thick book that kept you hooked while still allowing for you to break from it for sleep and other things. This will likely be a comfort read of some type in my future.

Likes:

  • Happy ending, which is surprising coming from these two authors.
  • The dynamic between main characters.
  • I really liked the involvement of music throughout the story.

Dislikes:

  • I understand Danny has serious mental struggles, however, there is a lot of justice that should have come down on him for what he’s done.
  • I now want to read every book in the Mafia Wars series.

Final Thoughts on Forget Me Not Bombshell

Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti have done us dirty. I don’t know how many times in the Zodiac Academy series so I was really prepared to get a devastating ending to this book. I’m just glad that we got a happy ending from them.

They may have still taken me through the emotional ringer with a few breath stealing moments, however, they still gave us an amazing story filled with characters that we will remember.
