Jack Off Book Review

Jack Off by KB Cinder - Contemporary Romance Book Recommendation - Jack Off Book Review

I just finished reading a contemporary romance book so today I am doing a Jack Off book review. Jack Off was written by K.B. Cinder. I found the book and author on TikTok and thought it would be a cute book to read, and it was.

As per usual I will keep spoilers to a minimum in this review but there may still be a few small spoilers.

“That ass could inspire world peace.”

K.B. Cinder, Jack Off

Jack Off is a contemporary romance with a slow burn and explicit sex scenes. There aren’t many other triggers other than cheating which is not done by any of the main characters. As always make sure you check trigger warnings before reading.

Jack Off Synopsis

At her bachelorette party, CeCe finds out her fiance is cheating on her and proceeds to get extremely drunk which is not her normal behavior. When she feels like she might throw up the party bus pulls over and CeCe walks into a field to relieve the nausea. That is until a tall man shines his light on her and admonishes her until she’s back on the party bus.

After finding out her fiance stole her dog and his family fired her as the event planner at their vineyard, she has to figure out what she’s doing next. She responds to an ad to be a caregiver for an elderly man. She nails the interview with the man and his daughter but when the son arrives at home she realizes this is the same guy that yelled at her in his yard and he’s a Jack Off. His father, however, has made his decision and wants CeCe as his caregiver, now she has to work with his grumpy son who thinks she’s nothing but a drunk bimbo.

K.B. Cinder gives us a super cute contemporary romance with a grumpy CEO, an ornery old man, and a woman who is just trying to get back on her feet. This book has memorable characters and will make you laugh.

Jack Off Reading Experience

The beginning of the book has you reeling a bit and the main character makes some choices that I personally would not have made. She’s a 35 year old woman who’s about to get married and after finding out her fiance is cheating on her she decides to go live in the small town she grew up in.

This town has no place to live and only a few job opportunities. Her family is a mother who wasn’t very active in her life either so I’m confused by her reasoning to get back on her feet there. However, things work out for her so that’s a good thing.

This book had me laughing out loud at several opportunities. The dialogue between the characters is fantastic and the inner monologue is hilarious at times. I especially love how the city boy behaves in a small town environment where he is completely out of his element.

I was expecting a bit more spice than what we got but the story was still extremely good. I don’t deduct stars for lack of spice which is why I use peppers for spice rankings. If you are looking for something spicy this isn’t it. However, if you want something cute, easy to read, and funny with a little bit of spice, this is probably right up your alley. Be aware, the few spicy scenes are not fade to black.

Jack Off is 280 pages so it only took me about 4 hours to read. I read this book in one night and enjoyed the cuteness of the story. I really love dark romance but this was a nice break from that. This book is available on Kindle Unlimited so I highly recommend subscribing to read this book with the service.

Jack Off Book Review

Right off the bat I loved that our main character is in her mid 30’s and our main love interest is almost 40. It was a nice break from the typical 20 something characters in most books I read.

At 35 I was officially and firmly in my no fucks given attitude and that’s kind of what we see CeCe getting to in this book. More heartbroken about her dog being stolen by her ex than the called off wedding says a lot about where her relationship was, and her realization of that is something I can relate to when I went through my first divorce.

Jack has had his life flipped upside down and has his own past with shitty relationships. His attraction to CeCe is extremely cute though and I love their interactions. Jack seems the type to drown out everything in his work and I love how that gets shaken up a bit. I also love all the sweet things he does for CeCe.

My favorite character though is Johnny, Jack’s dad, and the elderly man that CeCe is the caregiver for. He’s hilarious and I love his interactions with all the characters in this book. I love how he builds a relationship with and grows close to CeCe, it’s cute as hell.

Star Rating

Before I rate this book I want to give you a bit of background about what my rankings mean. I typically read books that I check out through the Libby app with my local library or through Kindle Unlimited.

I rarely buy ebooks unless they are cheaply priced or on sale. I also very rarely buy physical copies of books. I’m a bit of a minimalist so I have to absolutely adore a book to buy a physical copy that will be proudly displayed in my home.

So my ranking system is as follows:

  • 5 Stars equals I am buying a physical copy of this book. I will read this book at least 10 more times, it is the best ever.
  • 4 stars equals a great book. I might buy an ebook version when it’s on sale so that I can re-read it at least one more time.
  • 3 stars equals a good book. I likely won’t read again but I appreciate the story.
  • 2 stars equals “Meh.” I will not read this book again, it had a lot of problems and I did not care for it.
  • 1 star equals a bad book. I barely finished this book and I will never recommend anyone waste valuable book reading time on this book.
  • 0 stars is a did not finish book. I will never finish that book and it is banished.

Jack Off by K.B. Cinder gets 4 stars and 1 pepper. It’s a super cute and easy read but I deducted a star because the last quarter of the book feels a bit rushed. There are only a couple of spicy scenes and most of them are after 60%. The scenes weren’t fade to black but they weren’t all that long. Overall though the book was a great story with plenty of laugh out loud moments.

Final Thoughts on Jack Off

I really liked this book and I do recommend it for romance readers who are looking for something spicier than fade to black but aren’t ready for smut. It’s a good beginner book for those looking to get into some of the more graphic romance novels without violence or dark elements.

If you want something a little spicier than this check out my Brutal Birthright Series Review here.
