The Soldiers of Anarchy Series Review

The Soldiers of Anarchy Series Review - The Psycho and The Reaper by Nikki J Summers - Dark Romance Book Recommendations
PinterestLinkedInReddit

In this post I’m doing a The Soldiers of Anarchy series review. Nikki J. Summers became on of my favorite authors with this series and I cannot wait to read everything she’s written. I especially can’t wait for the next books in this series.

As usual I will try to keep spoilers to a minimum but there may still be a few small spoilers in this review.

The Soldiers of Anarchy is a dark romance series about a group of vigilantes who protect a fictional location set in England. They are standalone stories that continue sexually explicit scenes, violence, and graphic content that may not be suitable for all readers. Please check trigger warnings before reading.

Due to the standalone nature of this series I will not be doing a full triggers list and instead include some of the bigger triggers in each book description.

The Soldiers of Anarchy Book Order

Since there are things that are mentioned from the previous books in the series I highly recommend reading this series in order. However, at this point in the series it will not take away from the series if you decide to skip a book for any reason

  1. The Psycho
  2. The Reaper
  3. The Joker (Release October 27th, 2022)

There will likely be 5 books total in this series and I will update this post as we get more information from the author, the books are released, and as I read them.

The Psycho Book Review

Adam is the leader of The Soldiers of Anarchy, a vigilante gang that serves up justice while keeping their city free of evil. Life with his brothers is good until he meets Olivia. She becomes his obsession. Olivia knows he’s stalking her but she’s not afraid of him and even enjoys their game, but Adam isn’t playing a game, he’s out to make her his.

“The way I see it, everything has to matter, or nothing matters. And when nothing matters, that’s when vigilantes like us step up.”monsters-and-muses-series-review/“The way I see it, everything has to matter, or nothing matters. And when nothing matters, that’s when vigilantes like us step up.”

Nikki J Summers, The Psycho

I absolutely loved Adam in The Psycho and while the synopsis has you thinking it’s just another stalker story the subplots are what makes this story really good. There are twists that you don’t see coming. I really enjoyed Olivia’s character too. She’s snarky, sarcastic, and independent.

This book is 384 pages so it took me about 5 hours to read. There is stalking, sexually explicit scenes, violence, and kidnapping along with other triggers. Please check the authors trigger warnings before reading. I gave this book 4 stars and 3 peppers.

The Reaper Book Review

After facing his step father’s abuses as a kid Devon accepted that he would always be shrouded in darkness. When she comes into his life he quickly realizes she is the raven to his reaper but his past is coming back to haunt him and he’ll stop at nothing to protect her.

“The reaper and the raven. One can see death, and the other deals with it. They’re a perfect pair.”

Nikki J. Summers, The Reaper

I did not expect the story that we got with The Reaper, it exceeded my expectations giving me a story that I didn’t see coming. The relationship between Devon and Leah is interesting to me. She is sunshine to everyone, but a darkness hides in her and that darkness calls to Devon. I absolutely fell for Devon and his story was heartbreaking.

This book is 309 pages long so it took me about 4-5 hours to read. There are sexually explicit scenes, past child abuse, death, and violence. Please check the authors trigger warnings at the beginning of the book. I gave this book 5 stars and 3 peppers.

The Joker

I received an ARC of this book before the release date of October 27th. This is my review of The Joker.

In The Joker we finally dive into the mind of Colton and what I mind it is. Colton’s childhood was not the greatest but he dealt with it with the other Soldiers when the time came. Now there is someone who’s stealing the justice they’ve been asked to take care of. That’s when his past comes back to haunt him in the form of a fiery curly haired beauty he can’t seem to stay away from.

“There is such a thing as protesting too much. And I hear there’s a fine line between love and hate. Wanna walk that line with me?”

Nikki J Summers, The Joker

Colton is a cinnamon roll hidden in an egotistical homicidal maniac, so naturally I absolutely love him. His story is complex, traumatic, and really helps to bring him to life. He enjoys being The Joker of the group, and enjoys his life but Shelley is about to flip everything for him.

Suicide, murder, sexual assault, sexually explicit scenes, and violence are all triggers in this book. Please check out the trigger warnings in the book before reading.

The dynamic between Shelley and Colton is done well with plenty of tension building and banter between these enemies. Shelley is a strong female main character with lots of sarcasm and snark that makes for funny dialogues between her and Colton. I loved the character growth with both of the main characters.

The Soldiers of Anarchy Series Review

I am loving this series so far and after The Reaper I added all of Nikki J. Summers books to my TBR because I absolutely know that I am going to love every single one of them. As we keep finding out more about the Soldiers I just know that they are all likely to end up on my list of book boyfriends.

Nikki is fantastic with world building and character development with these books and I just know that this series is going to get better and better as it goes. The rest of this series is going to be highly anticipated for me.
