Wreck and Ruin Duet Review

Wreck and Ruin Duet Review - Wreck and Ruin Series by Ria Wilde - Dark Romance Series Recommendation

In this post I am giving a Wreck and Ruin Duet review. Wicked Heart and Savage Heart are spinoffs from Ria Wilde’s Twisted City Duet but you don’t need to read Twisted City to read Wreck and Ruin, at least I didn’t.

As usual I will try to keep spoilers to a minimum however there may be a few small spoilers within this review.

The Wreck and Ruin Duet is a dark romance series with a lot of darker themes. These books are available on Kindle Unlimited and I recommend getting the subscription service if you read a lot.

Due to the standalone nature of these books I will not be doing a full triggers list and instead give you some of the bigger triggers within each book. Both books do talk about sexual assault and trafficking. If these two subjects bother you this may not be a duet you will want to read.

Wreck and Ruin Reading Order

There are only two books in the duet and at this time I don’t know if any additional books will be added. While they are standalone, I found it was easier to understand everything that was happening when read in order.

  1. Wicked Heart
  2. Savage Heart

Wicked Heart Book Review

Kingston Heart finally has his sister back from the Syndicate, a sex trafficking ring, and he’s out for blood. Eleanor’s roommate has disappeared and she was last seen with her boss’s son and she knows something bad has happened. Now she has to trust Kingston to help her find her friend.

“Because if you kiss me, Eleanor, I’m not going to be able to stop. If you kiss me, I’m going to kiss you back”

Ria Wilde Wicked Heart

This was a super easy read that took about 4 hours to read. It was dark with enough twists to keep you guessing at what would happen. I really liked Kingston and I grew to like Eleanor too though a favorite character of mine is Ace. The characters were good but the story wasn’t great, good but could have been better.

Wicked Heart has violence, sexually explicit scenes, sex trafficking, and kidnapping. This book is 362 pages long and it took me about 5 hours to read. I rated it 3 stars and 4 peppers.

Savage Heart Book Review

Isobel is out to get revenge for the betrayal of the man who broke her heart. Hunter is out to win Isobel back. It’s going to take quite a bit for her to believe him and in the meantime the Syndicate still needs to be destroyed.

“I’m yours. I have always been yours. Your monster, your villain. I’ll be whatever you need me to be. I’ll be your weapon and your freedom.”

Ria Wilde, Savage Heart

I really loved Isobel in this book, in the first book I was unsure of her but understood that due to her history there were things she needed to work through. Hunter, however, is brilliant. I love the dynamic between these two and how they work through their issues. The story is good and I liked the ending.

Savage Heart has sexually explicit scenes, violence, fire, and sex trafficking scenes. This book is 288 pages long and took me 4 hours to read. So you could read both books in a day or over a weekend or spread them out over a couple of nights if you wanted. I rated it 3 stars and 4 peppers.

Wreck and Ruin Duet Review

While I didn’t think this duet was excellent I did like the story and how it finished. Let me be clear these books have sexually explicit scenes and I would say these are more smut than story but I still enjoyed the stories.

I likely won’t do a reread of these but if you have a free reading day you should be able to get through both of these books quickly. They are good if you are trying to take care of a book hangover. The topics in this series are dark so be prepared for that though.
