We all love the Enemies to Lovers book trope and after reading 150 books so far this year I figured now is a good time to put together my favorite Enemies to Lovers book recommendations.

This is a trope that I will likely do more posts on because there are always new recommendations to give within this trope. The recommendations I’m giving today are my favorite enemies to lovers books that I’ve read so far this year.

Enemies to Lovers Book Recommendations

Before we dive into the recommendations I want to remind you that before reading you should check the trigger warnings in a book. I will likely give a few triggers within my blurbs as well as type of content you can expect. All of these books have sexually explicit scenes.

Lilac by B.B. Reid

Braxton just got her dream gig of being the lead guitarist for Bound, too bad the band isn’t thrilled about adding her. Houston wants to push her away while also holding her close, Loren wants to make her his, and Jericho – Rich – has a secret he’s keeping hidden. She needs to prove herself and her skills while also dodging their attempts to consume her.

Lilac is a why choose rock star romance that you won’t want to put down. Braxton is a strong FMC with a rocky past, snark, and a talent that can’t be denied. The bullying, the hatred, and the tension between the characters is perfect. There is religious trauma within this book along with mental health struggles. I gave this book 5 stars, 4 peppers, and 1 tissue. Read my full review here.

Twisted Hate by Ana Huang

Jules is about to finish law school and hopefully be accepted into a prestigious firm, until then she’s working in the legal department of a clinic. Josh is her best friend’s brother and biggest enemy, he’s also a volunteer at the same clinic she’s working at. In an effort to remain professional the two agree to leave their hatred at the door, what they don’t expect is that they’ll learn so much more about each other.

Jules is the type of FMC that I love to see. Sarcastic, funny, and strong she’ll take no shit from anyone. The tension between Jules and Josh in Twisted Hate is through the roof. I loved the character growth and the overall story in this book. I gave this book 5 stars, 3 peppers, and 1 tissue. Read the series review here.

When she begins tutoring and helping Phoenix so he can graduate they become fast friends. It’s his betrayal that breaks them apart. Now he’s an out of control rock star and she may be the only one to get him back on track, she just needs to stay strong against his advances.

The Words is a rock star romance with friends turned lovers turned enemies. Several years later they are thrust together again with assumptions gone wild and secrets that are about to come out. There is excessive drug use and alcohol consumption in this book. I gave this book 5 stars, 3 peppers, and 1 tissue. Read my full review here.

When Eliana’s father is arrested for the murder of Leo’s twin her life gets turned upside down. For years she has to deal with Leo’s bullying for being the daughter of the man that killed his twin. Except it’s been years and new information has been found leading both Eliana and Leo to think maybe her father didn’t kill Leo’s twin.

The tension, the bullying, and the twists in Kiss of War are all fantastic. I loved the way the characters interacted and how Eliana dealt with the bullying. She’s smart, introverted, and not afraid to stand her ground. I gave this book 4 stars, 3 peppers, and 1 tissue.

Nicholas, however, needs her trust in order to break the case because he’s an undercover agent. When tension and heat between these two rise, Nicholas struggles with his job and Evelina struggles with her family’s demands.

Wretched is a mafia style romance and Evelina is a strong FMC that takes no shit and doesn’t keep prisoners. She’s got plans outside of her family and I loved her growth through the book. Meanwhile her attraction for his men, Church and Frank, grows and she even figures out she’s attracted to Benny – who she thinks is Danny – too. Something isn’t right though and soon she’ll be in the middle of an internal struggle in the Firm.

Forget-Me-Not Bombshell is a why choose mafia romance filled with action, twists, and spice. The Lords – Royals of Forsyth U by Angel Lawson and Samantha Rue

Killian, Tristan, and Dmitri are Story’s enemies but they may also be the only ones who can protect her from the stalker that killed her roommate and friend. The catch is she can’t tell them about the stalker and she has to submit to them for their protection. They could make her life unbearable but she could ruin them too.

Royals of Forsyth U is a dark bully romance that has dub con, non con, and loads of revenge. This series is not for everyone and you will want to check those trigger warnings. The series has several books but they are broken into groups of threes. The first three are the Lords and I really enjoyed the story. The character growth, the revenge, and story finding her strength and power again made this a fantastic read. I gave the books 5 stars, 5 peppers, and a couple of tissues.

Enemies To Lovers

I love the enemies to lovers trope because it typically has some of the best tension. For me I love the tension building and leave you breathless type of books and most of these met that standard.

The key to a good enemies to romance though is the growth in the characters. You can’t have characters who hate each other fall in love if they both aren’t willing to grow just a little bit and all of these books show that.
