Of all the different types of home decor there is one decor option that just doesn’t seem to go out of style. If anything it just keeps improving and getting better. That’s beach and coastal decor. Today I want to share beach house living room ideas.

Beach decor is just as popular now as it was 20 years ago when I first attempted the look in my teenage bedroom. I still love the look and will happily spend hours looking through pictures of homes with this decor style.

Instead of just hoarding all of my favorite rooms on a Pinterest board though, I am sharing the wonderful beach house living room ideas that I found. Make sure you click on the source link under each image to view these wonderful beach house living room ideas too because there are loads more to see on each post.

Beach House Living Room Ideas

Here are 11 beach house living rooms you will want to pull ideas from to create your own unique beach house look.

The Happy Housie

While most of the time the only blues people think of in beach decor is turquoise or aqua, The Happy Housie shows us we can use other blues. The denim blue in the curtains and the bright french blue in the pillows works perfectly with the aqua accents and the light blue coffee table.

The navy and sky blue accents are perfect in this coastal room. The rattan chairs, woven baskets, and driftwood lighting fixture make for a perfectly cozy beach house feel. I especially love the mix in textures with the layered rugs.

Here you can see a beautiful blending of modern, traditional, and beach decor to create a perfect living space. The more abstract art, the sleek lines in the book shelves, and the white clean coffee table give this space an update. The seashells, blues, and woven rug are perfect beach accents to add.

Nothing says beach house quite like a lovely hammock in the living room. I can just imagine stretching out in this hammock with a lovely book and all the windows open for a day of self care.

Getting a coastal vibe in your home doesn’t mean you have to clutter it with rope and seashells and this living room proves that. Reclaimed wood beams add a strong coastal feel to this otherwise contemporary living room. The deep blues, white walls, and patterned ottoman work for a more contemporary take on beach decor.

This living room is a fantastic minimalist approach to beach decor. White furniture paired with blue accents and keeping other elements in natural tones really adds a cozy uncluttered feel to a living room.

Shiplap walls can instantly make a room feel more like a beach cottage adding a live wood mantle piece, coral wall hangings, and palms and you have yourself the perfect modern beach house living room.

One Kin Design

This is a great living room set up for a family because it offers plenty of cozy seating. While the navy blue sofas are the obvious focal point for the room, I like how the shiplap is placed both vertical and horizontal in order to make the room appear larger and give a bit of interest to the walls.

Better Homes and Garden

Beach decor lends well to rooms that have a lot of natural lighting. This room blends traditional furniture styles with a bit of wicker, blues, and a few coastal accents. Notice the starfish and seashells on the table help to tie it all together.

This living room looks like it can sit right on the Mediterranean coast with the mirror on the mantle and the tile around the fireplace embrace that Mediterranean style. Adding wicker hanging chairs and a natural weave rug brings in those beach feels.

This room has many different styles that come into play here. The lap is more industrial, the rug is traditional, the table is modern. However, the wicker basket, driftwood pieces, and deep blue accents really make this room feel perfect for a beach house.

Beach House Living Rooms

Decorating with beach decor does not mean you have to have to stick with just beach decor in your room. As you can see in all of the examples above you can blend beach decor with almost any other style to create the room of your dreams.

  1. I love that you said beach and coastal design is one option among the many available forms of house decoration that never seems to go out of style and, if anything, just becomes better and better. Going through this article reminded me of how much I used to dream of living on a seafront property when I’m old. I’ve been saving all my life for that day to come and when it does, I’ll hire a good realtor that can help me find my dream beach house.
