If you want to teach your kid about time management, project management, goal setting and planning, and give them the tools they need to be successful in life, get them a calendar while they are young.

I remember when I was about 12 or 13 years old I got my first day planner. Having ADHD planning really helped me keep my focus, plan out my days, get all my school work done, and prepare for testing. It was also the beginning of a long history of planning.

Now I use a bullet journal to plan out my life. It’s a lot more customized to my schedule as a work at home mom and keeps me on track for completing tasks and goals.

I don’t recommend a bullet journal for kids only because kids can be extremely hard on themselves when things don’t turn out exactly how they want it. This is why I firmly believe in printable planners and calendars for kids.

These planners and calendars are inexpensive and unique. It provides your child with something they can call their own while also providing them with skills that can set them up for a lifetime of success.

Using a planner, calendar, or task list can help a child understand the importance of time management at a young age. This important skill will set them up for success in studying, task management, and in future project management at a job.

Why Your Kid Needs A Calendar

One of the best ways to teach your child about days, times, and how time passes is by getting them their own calendar. This allows them to mark off days, learn the days of the week, and see how long they have to wait for things they want to celebrate.

As a planner myself my son takes an interest in planning. Right now it’s more about writing and drawing for him, but as time goes on he will gain a better understanding of the usefulness of planning.

So to help my son learn to plan I’m looking to get him his own monthly calendar and planner. As we work through preschool I hope to give him the understanding of setting daily tasks, goals, and plans.

To teach your child how to plan, set tasks, and set goals at a young age is a huge part of setting them up for a lifetime of success. They learn how to get things done and how to wait patiently for holidays and events they are excited for.

Calendars For Kids

Below I am sharing some of my favorite calendars from Etsy. The beautiful part about these calendars is you can purchase and print these calendars immediately.

Which means you aren’t driving to a store and waiting hours for your kid to pick out a planner or calendar because they just can’t decide. You pick out a few types of calendars and then give them the ability to choose from 3-5 options instead of 20 different options.

If you’re like me and don’t have a printer you can buy one for that provides what you need here, or you can download the file and have it printed at Staples or Walmart for cheap.
