Get the Perfect Farmhouse Bedroom Decor

As my husband and I go through decor options for our current rental one of the things I REALLY wanted to do was create the perfect farmhouse bedroom. Sadly for me my husband used his veto powers on the farmhouse bedroom because our office is in our bedroom too.

We have black desks, black chairs, and red accents on the computers, so he’s right to veto the farmhouse look because it would clash. Next year when we move though I will be getting my super pretty farmhouse bedroom.

In the meantime, I am looking at some inspiration for that future perfect farmhouse bedroom and I decided to share what I found.

There is only one thing that I know for sure I want to have in my farmhouse style bedroom. That’s a cozy element to the room.

While it’s important for your whole home to be inviting and comfortable the bedroom is the one place in your home where it’s necessary. Farmhouse decor just naturally creates a comfortable feeling in your home.

Farmhouse Style Bedrooms

I can’t decide if I want to go more chic or more modern with our eventual farmhouse bedroom. This room should be just as comfortable and inviting to me as it is to my husband, so I’ll probably end up on the more modern side of it.

While farmhouse is a very popular look these days there are so many different ways to style a farmhouse room.

A chic farmhouse look consists of lots of girly flairs. It might have a ruffled bedskirt, sheer curtains, or crystal accents.

A modern farmhouse look would minimize the chic and use more clean edges, neutral color tones, and a couple of modern accents.

To add to the styles you can add a touch of coastal through bright blues and turquoises. Or maybe even a bit of french country through floral patterns.

You can also add a vintage or traditional look to your farmhouse bedroom through accents. Add them to your walls, your end tables, or in accent furniture at the end of your bed.

Of course there is always a minimalist farmhouse approach by keeping small details to a minimum. Add some chunky knit throws and one simple accent pillow to bring a touch of cozy to the minimalist look.

Farmhouse is so versatile on it’s own that just by swapping out a few pieces you can completely change the way a room looks. In a lot of the rooms I share below you can see the progression of how the room evolved.

Below are some of my favorite farmhouse bedroom ideas. The specific style I end up deciding to do will ultimately come down to the layout and design of the room we end up in.

By pairing lazy accents, a wood ceiling, and floral patterns this bedroom is instantly given a rich chic look. I personally love the chunky knit throw and plush rug because they add a cozy feel to the room.

The side table lighting, matching signs, and painted flooring turned this farmhouse bedroom into a rustic paradise. I love the white flooring paired with the neutral grey tones in the bedding and rug because it looks clean and is easy on the eyes.

Farmhouse Bedroom Decorating Ideas

If you are sticking to more neutral color tones in your own farmhouse style bedroom do not be afraid to add some greenery. It highlights the room, adds just a touch of color, and really ties the look together.

While I’m absolutely leaning towards a more simple modern farmhouse style bedroom there is one thing that these rooms all have in common. They all have a cozy touch to them.

Be it in the fabric, throws, pillows, or plush rugs, each room has a cozy element to it. It’s important to make your bedroom be a place of relaxation and the cozy element does exactly that.
