20 Healthy Snacks To Add To Your Diet

PinterestLinkedInReddit

If you are looking for homemade healthy snacks for you, your family, or just your kids. You are sure to find some fun healthy snack ideas right here in this post. I’ve put together a list of the best homemade snacks to serve up to your family.

I believe, there are two types of people in this world. Meal people and snack people. I am a snack people. I like eating small portions throughout the day. The problem with this is sometimes I forget my portion control. So if I have chocolate, chips, or other greasy snacks in the house I’ll likely end up eating way too much of it.

Not all processed foods are bad for you and of course most of everything just comes down to portion control. If you can steer clear of high calorie foods that offer no or low nutritional value. Chips or candy here are there aren’t likely to harm your diet so long as you stick to the recommended portions and don’t make it a daily activity.

However, some of the homemade snacks I feature below are great at taming those cravings we all get for salty or sugary snacks so feel free to give them a try.

Homemade Snacks

It’s true that homemade snacks do take a bit of time to prepare. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t just order a box of goldfish crackers for the week for my son’s snack food just because I was too busy to make something homemade.

However, on the weeks that I’m not so busy making homemade snacks is a great way to get you and your kid into the kitchen together.

Make It A Fun Activity

As a mom I’m always looking for new things to do with my son, things that he would actually like to do. He’s not much of a crafter, and to be honest, I’m not either. But he does like to get in the kitchen and help me make new things.

I had hoped that by having him help me make meals he might try new foods. My theory was right and since being active in the kitchen with me while I cook, he has tried more foods. Of course he’s still a bit picky but he enjoys more than just chicken nuggets and frozen waffles now. So it’s a start.

If you are lucky enough not to have a picky eater they may really enjoy helping you make the snacks for the week. They may like helping you choose what snacks to make too.

Batch All Your Snack Making

Pick two or three snacks you might want in the week and try to make enough to last you the whole week. I do a lot of my meal prep in this way because it saves me time during the week.

You can then pack these snacks in lunches or just have the available for your family whenever the snack mood strikes. But like I said making homemade snacks is time consuming so if you are super busy or just want to relax on your day off there are some recipes below that can be made in just a couple of minutes.

Portion Your Snacks

Be it you are making homemade snacks or just buying your snacks from the store, it’s always helpful to portion your snack food of choice right away. Even if you’ve decided to just grab a bag of candy, portion out just the right amount in plastic bags or reusable containers to make sure you only grab the amount that is recommended.

Also, by pre-portioning out your snack foods you can actually make sure you are saving some of your snacks for later in the week when the munchies hit again.

20 Healthy Snacks

Now that you have the solutions that take away some of the inconvenience of making homemade snacks, let’s dive into some delicious snack recipes you can try.

    1. Chocolate isn’t inherently bad for you. Unless you’re allergic to it. It’s eating too much of it and loading it up with sugar and everything else that’s not so good.

  1. These are delicious recipes. I tried the Baked Sweet Potato Chips and my kids love them. We will make the Frozen Yogurt Berry Bites later for their snacks.
